I joined Hurst Green Singers a couple of years ago after singing for many years with another local society where I learned a huge amount. I was made to feel very welcome at HGS and very much enjoy each rehearsal. Jamie is an inspirational leader and every rehearsal is packed full, including exercises in vocal technique as well as ‘note bashing’. He is very ably assisted by Gillian at the piano so that the choir is conducted throughout every rehearsal, giving us a chance to build confidence and gain a deeper understanding of the music. Jamie is keen to introduce us to new music so that the repertoire includes new pieces as well as old favourites. I feel my musical knowledge grows with each rehearsal and I come away with a real sense of achievement as well as having thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
