Hurst Green Singers is a friendly group of amateur singers. We aim to develop vocal technique, rehearse with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, explore new repertoire and perform to the best of our ability.
We meet every Tuesday evening during term time in St. John's Church, Hurst Green, at 8.00 pm.
There are no auditions and while there is no absolute requirement to read music, there must be a willingness to learn, sing on pitch, blend with other voices and commit to regular rehearsals. If you are interested in joining, please contact us or email hurstgreensingers@gmail.com. For more details see the 'become a member'' page.
We perform two concerts a year, one in May and the other in December.
The May concert is usually held in the first half of the month and in recent years we have performed a number of major works by Handel, Rutter, Karl Jenkins, as well as an eclectic mix of other choral works by a wide range of composers. We have recently started to explore works by living composers such as Dan Forrest, Will Todd and Randol Bass.
The December concert marks the lead–up to Christmas and usually ends with a selection of carols, some lesser known and often unaccompanied, others old favourites for both choir and audience participation.
